How many times may I renew a loan?

Those copies labeled as  "uso frecuente" (frequent use) or "préstamo exterior" (external lending) may be renewed twice provided they've not been reserved by another user.
The copies labeled as "uso preferente de alumnos" (priority use for students) can be renew just once.

How can I renew a loan without going to the library?

Go to the catalogue, identify yourself with your ULL card number and your password and then click "Mi biblioteca / My library"
You'll see the documents yo've got on loan. Check the document you want to renew and click "renovar / renew".
As a rule, you can't renew a loan more than twice, though some types of documents may have different renewal conditions. If the document you want to renew has been reserved by anothe user, you won't be able to renew your loan.

What does 'signatura' mean?

The 'signatura' or call number is the code that identifies the specific location of a document in the shelves. As a rule, it's made up of three or more digits representing the subject (according to the Universal Decimal Classification), the first three letters of the author's name and the first three letters os the title. You'll see this code in a label stuck on the spine of every document. When you find a document in the catalogue, you must take down this code in order to locate it.

What is my reader number and my password?

In order to identify yourself in the Library's services yo need to know your reader number (número de lector)and your password.
Your reader number is the 10-digit number shown below the barcode at the back of your ULL ID card.
Your password is your birthdate in the form DDMMYYY (e.g.., if you were born on 15 March 1998 yor password is 15031998)

How can I know my password?

Every student receive their password (clave de servicio) when they register. It allow students to access their personal data through the Student's Portal at the ULL website.

How do I find information on a subject?

Librarians can introduce you to the most relevant print and electronic resources for your subject, and you can also find relevant information for your studies in our blogs. Information skills subject seminars online are held for groups. Just ask at the Library Desk if you would like individual help, and the staff will refer you on to an appropriate librarian.

How do I book a study room?

Some specific libraries are provided with spaces devoted to group work or study. Normally, they can be used for up to two hours. To book a study room, go to the library's desk bringing your ULL card.

What is PuntoQ?

PuntoQ is the University Library gateway to good quality academic information obtained via library catalogues, databases, and e-journals. Users are allowed to link directly to the full text of the e-resources suscribed by the University. The easiest way to access PuntoQ is by clicking on the icon at the Library home page or under Biblioteca digital > PuntoQ


Where is the Library?

There are 14 locations of the Library. The main library is the Biblioteca General y de Humanidades in the Campus of Guajara. Look up for your Faculty or School Library in this page and map in our website.

How do I find a book?

The Library Catalogue should be used to find the details of the books and printed periodicals you are looking for. The location ("biblioteca" or "sucursal") will be displayed clicking on "Ejemplares" (copies) under the item shown after your search. Clicking on "+" displays the "signatura" (call number), the code needed to identify where the book is in the Library and other information about its availability for borrowing.


What if the Library doesn't hold the book I want?

If you can't find in the ULL Library the documents you need. we can look for them in other libraries, both in Spain and abroad. We can get for you periodical issues and articles, books, theses, reports, patents and standards. More information can be found at our Interlibrary Loan Service.

How many books can I borrow?

1st cycle students can borrow up to 5 books for 15 days except certain books that can be borrowed only for 3 days. 2nd and 3rd cycle students can borrow up to 10 books for 60 days. Researchers and lecturers can borrow up to 25 books for 180 days.
